Before

In summer 2026 the brand moved to a new domain. The old site still came up for the brand's name, and AI assistants described the host under a different brand. Google's reporting tool only started collecting data for the new site on August 18.

From August 16 to 31 the site came up on Google 206 times, at positions 60 to 90, where people rarely click. Its average position was 54, page 6, and only one page made Google's first page. On August 21, ChatGPT said it could not find the site.

What we did

  • Site basics for search

From August 17 the new site had a sitemap, a robots file and structured data that tell Google and AI assistants what each page is.

  • One site, not two

On August 21 each of the nine old pages was redirected to its matching page on the new site, so the two stopped competing for the same searches.

  • Articles every month

Four articles and three guides in August, eight articles in September. The host wrote the material; we edited, laid out and scheduled it, with topics picked from Search Console and from questions where AI assistants did not name the retreat.

  • Retreat directories

New listings on retreat directories, including the October group listing published on September 15, and four guest reviews moved onto the site.

  • Fast discovery

The sitemap updates itself, and search engines hear about each new article on the day it goes live.

After

From September 1 to 27 the site's average Google position was 17, against 54 in the second half of August. 12 pages were on Google's first page, up from 1, and 20 were on the first two pages, up from 3.

The site did not come up more often, 212 times against 206. What changed is where: the program pages, the cost guide and the FAQ moved up to positions 6 to 18.

On September 1 a visitor came from a ChatGPT answer to a program page and booked a discovery call the same day, the first booking made through the site. ChatGPT had first cited the site on August 30. In September, 9 of the site's 299 visits came from ChatGPT.
